HOOO KAY! We know how to play the game... Comment to this post and I will give you 5 subjects/things I associate you with. Then post this in your LJ and elaborate on the subjects given.
Today's contestant is maegwin_of_hern, she's a housewife* PR-assistant from Cologne, Germany and she's given me the following 5 subjects that she associates with me...
Vintage There are two ways to go about this. Actually old stuff, and stuff made to look like old stuff. In clothing, this is okay. Old clothes are expensive and not always in the condition you'd like. However, unless you're getting a reprint of an old book, it's rarely such a good idea in those realms. A lot of the time, something trying to ape an old comic book style (for example) they tend to over do it and put every cliché from that time period into each and every stroy. In the end they end up being a cartoonish depiction, and that's not so cool. I like a lot of old stuff. Old movies, women wearing old fashions, old slang, lots of old. I sort of don't like the word vintage though, as it normally is code for "We think we can charge between two and five times as much as this stuff should cost" at most stores.
Cats I like cats, and we have three of them. There isn't much more to say about that.
Michigan This is the place we landed when Dad got out of the Army, and I've been here since. I don't exactly hate the place exactly, but every time I go to someplace else I'm struck by just how much this state is dying out. Detroit of course is always a slap in the face, but it's worse if you just went to Chicago or Toronto. It's like a crumbling shell where a city used to be before the disaster that wiped out most of the place leaving you with this town that is barely holding on. The result of that biblical disaster has spread out to the suburbs and towns that surround it, causing a ripple effect. It depresses the hell out of me and makes me want to leave, but getting out would require having jobs, getting a place for all three of us, doing all those other little things that it’s quite hard to do.
Henry Ford Henry Ford was an interesting character, even if he was a Nazi lover. I don't mean he was a bit right wing, or that he had an undefined "something" against Jews, I mean he gave Hitler like 300,000 dollars over five years as a birthday present and got the Grand Cross of the German Eagle as a result. By all accounts he was one of those people who "has a lot of Jewish/black friends" and thus can't be a bigot. Still, the museums he built are an interesting legacy and I like taking pictures of the things in them. It's important to point out what Ford did right, as well as pointing out what he did wrong. As I say, he's an interesting character.
Swords I like swordy-swords. I like knifey-kinves too, but swords are longer and more badass. I’ve been collecting swords for sometime now and I have a pretty good collection, bigger than some, not as big as others. Part of the problem with collecting is that it’s an expensive hobby if you want to do anything with the swords besides hang them on the wall and look at them. I like doing more than looking at them, so it is a bit expensive to get the good ones I like.
*She's married. That's about how close she comes to being a housewife. She actually has a job and stuff, but since I'm doing this like an old 50s game show I decided to pigeonhole her. She told me her real job so I have corrected for it. What am I listening to?: Billy Joel - We Didn't Start the Fire

Would it be dangerous for me to comment to this post this time?
I'm not sure it's ever safe, but it can't be too dangerous.
1. Voice Acting. 2. Cultural References 3. Stand-Up Comedy 4. Metal work 5. Sweet tea.
I didn't really expect you to elaborate on cats, it's just that "cats" is something I associate with you, what with you being the No. 1 slave of the Ruler of the Universe and all.
The correct term to describe me at a game show would be "PR-assistant", but I suppose those didn't exist in the Golden Fifties.
But we're supposed to elaborate and stuff.
I have made an edit! You are now properly reflected.
